Ultrasonic Activity Test using SonoCheck

 1. Fill the bath with liquid and detergent as normal for cleaning your instruments.

Run a cycle to degas the liquid.

2. Place a SonoCheck test vial on an instrument tray within the tank.
3. Run either a cycle that is recommended by the manufacturer for the test or if not known the same cycle usually used to clean instruments.
4. After the cycle, remove and inspect the SonoCheck vial.
5. A uniform colour change from green to yellow indocates a successful cycle and a pass result.
6. To provide evidence of test, record details in the Isopharm Ultrasonic Cleaner log book.

Please Note:

Some washer-disinfectors have an ultrasonic cleaning stage. Due to the temperatures reached during thermal disinfection, SonoCheck should not be used to validate an ultrasonic cleaning process that is part of a washer-disinfector cycle.

Storage Information

Store SonoCheck between 2°C and 25°C.

Do not freeze.

Shelf life is typically 12 months.

Reasons Why the Test May Fail

Should the test fail a re-test should be performed. If the test fails a second time, a diagnosis of both the method of cleaning and method of testing is required.

The compliance team at Isopharm is also available to discuss the test and test method.

Possible fail reasons for SonoCheck are:

Diagnosing the Method of Cleaning

  • Check that the cycle is being run for the appropriate time as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • In some cases it may be that the machine under test is not working correctly and an engineer may be required to diagnose further.

Diagnosing the Method of Test

  • Check that the vials are within the expiry date.
  • Check that the product is being stored correctly.
