The test pack should be made up of cotton sheets (warp threads/cm = 30 ±6 and weft threads/cm = 27 ±5)900mm x 1200mmunhemmed and bleached to white.

Before assembling into the test pack, the sheets should be washed without fabric conditioner when new or require washing.

The sheets should be dried and equilibrated at a temperature of between 20°C to 30°C, humidity being between 40% and 60%.

The sheets should be dried and equilibrated at a temperature of between 15°C to 25°C, humidity being between 30% and 70%.

Each sheet should be folded in half along the longer edge four times, the end result will be approximately 300mm x 220mm.

Stack folded sheets to a height of 250mm and weight of 7kg +/-0.14kg.

The pack should be compressed by hand during stacking.

Stack folded sheets to a height of 250mm and weight of 7kg +/-0.7kg.

The pack should be compressed by hand during stacking.

Use either a prepared cotton sheet or a test pack wrap to secure the sheets.

The constructed standard test pack can be re-used. Store in an environment as described above for washing.

The sterilisation process will result in the test pack compressing, simply add further sheets to make the pack height 250mm, checking that the weight remains with tolerance.

When the pack weight breaches 7.14kg dispose and replace with new sheets.

When the pack weight breaches 7.7kg dispose and replace with new sheets.

The usable space within the chamber around the standard test pack should be filled with stacks of folded cotton sheets.

The sheets should be prepared in the same way as the cotton sheets within the standard test pack.

For the test the sheets should be folded to a size of 25cm x 50cm and placed into stacks 30cm x 30cm x 60cm and weigh approximately 7.5kg +/-0.5kg. For the test the sheets should be folded to a size of 25cm x 50cm and placed into stacks that weigh approximately 7.5kg +/-0.5kg.
